CCIA Competitions & Programs Report

1.) National Qualifying Series (NQS), Pacific Coast Sectionals (Singles), U.S. Finals (pairs/dance),
U.S. Championships

a. 2026-27 NQS local competitions.

  • Clubs notified, but not yet publicly announced

b. NQS skater application registration

  • Series application is expected to open July 2, 2026. Skaters must register for the series before an NQS event in order for their score to be ranked.

c. New this year: 

  • Preliminary & Pre-Juvenile levels added to the National Qualifying Series 

  • Age limits for Prelim, Pre-Juv, and Juvenile as of July 1, skaters must be12 yrs or younger for girls and 13 years or younger for boys.

  • Intermediate age limit as of July 1 must be under 18

  • Number of jumps for Novice reduced to 6

3.) Intercollegiate Skating

  • 2026 Skates on the Bay Classic (hosted by Cal Berkeley & Stanford), San Jose, CA - Jan. 30 – Feb. 1, 2026

  • 2026 National Intercollegiate Final, Salt Lake City, UT – April 10 – 12, 2026

  • 2027 & 2028 Bids to host National Intercollegiate Finals due by Feb. 2, 2026

  • Area colleges with registered programs (2025-26 season): San Jose State, Stanford, UC Berkeley, UC Davis

4.) High School Skating

  • 2026 Winter Skate (includes team maneuvers event), San Jose, CA – Feb. 8, 2026

  • 2026 Sectional HS Finals (Midwest/Pacific) in Fort Wayne, IN – March 27 – 29, 2026 

  • 2027 & 2028 Bids to host Sectional HS Finals due by Feb. 2, 2026

  • Current registered teams: Bay Area Skating Team (SF), Peninsula SC HS Team (SJ), Sacramento Area HS Team (Roseville), Silicon Valley Region Skating HS Team (Fremont)

5.) Synchronized Skating – Qualifying events

a. 2026 Pacific Coast Synchro Sectionals in Highlands Ranch, CO – Jan. 19 – 25, 2026
b. 2026 U.S. Synchronized Skating Championships in Salt Lake City, UT – Mar. 4 – 7, 2026
c. 2027 Synchro Sectionals & U.S. Synchro Championships TBA
d. 2028 Bid to host U.S. Synchro Championships due by March 15, 2026

6.) Adult Skating – Qualifying events

a. 2026 Pacific Coast Adult Sectionals in Spokane, WA – Mar. 6 – 8, 2026; (registration deadline 2/1/2026)
b. 2026 U.S. Adult Championships in Duluth, GA –Apr. 8 – 11, 2026; (registration deadline 2/1/2026)
c. 2027 & 2028 Adult Sectional Championships and U.S. Adult Championships TBA

7.) Excel Series

a. 2026 Excel Series local competitions

  • Gold Rush in Roseville – March 21-22, 2026

  • Crystalline Classic in Santa Rosa – April 24-26, 2026

  • Spring Jubilee in San Jose – May 8-10, 2026

  • Sierra Nevada Ice Classic in Reno, NV – May 30-31, 2026

b. 2026 Excel National Final & Festival in Boston, MA – July 15 – 19, 2026
c. Excel Series application open; registration deadline is by March 1, 2026. Skaters must register before their first Excel competition in order for their score to be ranked.
d. Changes: Excel Preliminary phased out (still have Preliminary Plus); Excel Juvenile & Juvenile Plus can no longer change feet on spin in one position; Excel Intermediate & Intermediate Plus clarified that no singles jumps may be done more than twice in a program; Novice – Senior added a choreographic spin element.

8.) Solo Dance Series

a. 2026 Solo Dance Series local competitions

  • Competitions must by between February 27 – August 16, 2026.

b. 2026 National Solo Dance Final will be in Kalamazoo, MI – Sept. 16 – 19, 2026
c. Solo Dance Series application open; registration deadline is by April 1, 2026 with a late registration by May 1, 2026; skaters must register before their first solo dance series competition in order for the score to count.
d. As of 10/1/25, all competitions that are not part of the solo dance series but offer solo pattern dance events, must use the solo dance series selections.

9.) National Showcase

a. 2025-26 season: New

  • Competitions must be between October 1, 2025 – May 31, 2026 for skaters to qualify (previously June 1 – May 31).

  • Skaters must achieve placement and a minimum score for the level they are entering to qualify for National Showcase.

  • Recommended panels for nonqual competition: majority with showcase appt.

  • Events should not be combined to create a contested event
  • Technical limitations added = max 2 jumps, jump combos or sequences

  • Optional Introductory and Adult Introductory levels added for Choreographic Artistry

  • New Theme = Divas of the 80s & 90s

b. 2026 National Showcase will be in Denver, CO – Aug. 3 – 8, 2026
c. 2027 & 2028 National Showcase dates & locations TBA

10.) Theatre on Ice (TOI)

a. 2026 National Theatre on Ice competition in Irvine, CA – June 23 – 27, 2026
