INFORMATION:

There are major changes to Testing nomenclature starting July 1, 2023.

As per the USFS website:

There are several classes of tests in the U.S. Figure Skating structure:

  1. Skating Skills

  2. Singles

  3. Pairs

  4. Partnered and Solo Pattern Dance (Lead and Follow)

  5. Partnered and Solo Free Dance

All tests are available as standard, adult 21+, and adult 50+. Adaptive and Skate United tests are also available for some test classes. Please see the Rulebook in Members Only for information.

TESTING OPTIONS:

1. Submit a video to be judged virtually:

Use the online registration system to apply for a virtual test. We accept non-member virtual tests with a $20 guest fee in addition to the member fee. Permission to test from the home club is required from all non-members.

Before making a video, it is important to review the requirements in Rule 4104. Videos must be recorded within 14 days of the submission deadline. The skater must introduce themselves and a phone screen with the month, day, and time on the display must be shown. Videos are preferred to be shot in 1080p60 but must be a minimum of 720p60.

The uploaded video must be accompanied by an affidavit that meets the requirements of Rule 4104. Please note that the skater must have a current USFS membership and the coach must be listed as compliant with USFS. The proctor must be an independent third party from the skater and coach and must witness the filming. Please see more information in USFS Members Only.

After registering in the online system, upload video, affidavit (and image release and permission forms for non-members) by the submission deadline. Registrations without submitted video and paperwork will not be eligible for postponement or refund if the test chair is not notified by the submission deadline.

2. Apply for an in-person test session held at the rink:

Apply for a test session using the online registration system. Peninsula SC members will be given priority on all in-person test sessions up to 3 weeks before the testing date. At the 3 week deadline, applications by non-home club members will be confirmed and placed on the schedule as time permits.

Non-home club members must provide permission from their club. An additional $30 guest fee per application is applied to non-home club members.

3. Receive IJS credit through a non-qualifying competition in lieu of testing.

This option allows testing and competing simultaneously. Tests that are eligible for this option are listed in the Rulebook.

  1. Use the online system to register and pay for IJS Test Credit. Please note that this processing fee is in addition to any fees paid at the competition. Skaters must sign-up in advance with the competition and must collect the paperwork at the competition on the day of the event.

  2. Email the PSC Test Chair the Test Credit Packet (protocol, results sheet, and test credit skater report that is received by the skater from the chief accountant or competition registrar after the event is complete) along with the COACH APPROVAL FORM. Please allow 3 weeks for processing.

For questions regarding testing, please email the PSC Test Chair.
